Every commercial vehicle must have a Certificate of Roadworthiness. To obtain this the vehicle must go through a Commercial Vehicle Test (CVT) or DOE test.

A Light Goods Vehicle (LGV) is any commercial vehicle with a gross vehicle weight up to 3500Kgs.

LGVs must be tested annually from the anniversary of the first registration.
